Isim terdiri dari 2 jenis:
1. Nakiroh

Isim yang maknanya masih umum, tidak mengacu pada benda tertentu.

2. Ma'rifah

Isim yang spesifik mengacu pada benda tertentu.

Nakiroh

- Bisa menerima alif lam (ال)

Ma'rifah
- Tidak bisa menerima alif lam (ال)
- Ada 7 macam:

1. Dhomir
   - Munfashil (terpisah)
   - Muttashil (tersambung)
2. Isim Alam (nama)
3. Isim isyaroh
    - Contoh: هذا, هذان, هذه, هتان, هؤلاء, هنا, ثمّ
4. Isim maushul
    - Contoh: الّذي, الّتي, اللّذان اللّتان, الّذينو اللّائي, اللّاتي, اللّواتي
5. Dengan alif lam (ال)
6. Diidhofahkan kepada ma'rifah
    - Contoh: قَلَمِي, قَلَمُ مُحَمَّدٍ
